Long distance relationship and Valentine's day

For couples all around the world, this coming 14th February is going to be the day everyone is anticipating for. It's already hard enough to find any decent florist in Miri city, and trust me, that means an added problems for couples like my girlfriend and I, who are having long distance relationship.

Since I am from Miri and it's quite tough to personally hand in anything to her. And my last resort was to order from an online florist that can help me to deliver the gift to her in Miri.

So, I actually managed to do some ordering from an online florist who can deliver some surprise gift to my girlfriend. (Well, it's good that she didn't read blogs, or else this won't be any surprise anymore, oh well)

Well, it's quite hard to maintain a long term relationship eh?I am planning to go back to Miri during this Chinese New Year. Maybe I will spend most of the time at my girlfriend's house. We'll see how things goes

So, do you have any plan on Valentine's Day? Mind to share with me?

Tags: Valentine's Day, love, gift, girlfriend, Miri

RM2 billions fund for Miri Infrastructure development

I was reading a blog by a fellow Mirian, Uchu Keling when I came across this news.
It was actually an interesting topic because, in that news, it featured about the RM2 billion fund Miri city will be getting to boost its infrastructures.
Personally, I am more than happy to hear this news, as this means the Miri citizens will have better standard of living.
Among the projects to be using this RM2 billion fund were two flyovers at Pujut corner and the Puchong roundabout.
I am not too sure about the exact location of where this Flyover bridge will be at (anyone can contribute photos?), but this is certainly good as Pujut Corner is well-known for its dangerous roundabout, people tend to speed as they may there. Well, who doesn't when it's so difficult to get to the other side of the road?

And part of the money also will be utilized to relocate 200 to 300 families along the Miri river to a different location. This is done as part of a continuous effort to beautify Miri River area.

Personally, I would have to say this is going to cost more than mere RM2 billion. We need people to co-operate, as a community. Without co-operation and unity, it's hard to achieve any success in anything, even if the intention is good. Geez, I think it's quite ridiculuous to swim in the Miri river nowadays. And I wonder when will we ever be able to swim in it without getting any skin infection. Is this what we Mirian really want? I wonder if our dear politicians know about this.

So, what do you think? Wil this make full use of the RM2 billion fund efficiently? Or there should have been other projects to be done.

By the way, we have a lively discussion on Miricommunity.net about this issue
Check it out

All opinions are welcome.

Cheers!

Why I miss Miri City

First of all, I would like to thank Ian for the opportunity to blog here.

I would do my best to keep you entertained with the information that I am sharing here. I hope that there will be a lot of comments here, so that I can know what to be served in this blog. Since I am currently stuck in Singapore at least until April, you will have to bear with me about a lot of flashbacks and some other news that I think would be relevant to you. Let me know if you want me feature about anything specific about Miri City, I will be more than happy to share it with you.
So, to kick things off, I wanna blog about why do I miss Miri City.

What do I miss most about Miri city?
Well, if I have to be honest, I would say it's going to be my girlfriend. But, let's see what else do I miss most?
I have been here in Singapore for almost 2 years already. And it's not a bad thing to be here.
But everything is so hectic and fast paced here. No one seems to care about the human factor anymore. For them, we're just numbers. Argh. Sucks, isn't it?

Well, how about Miri City? Although it's recently awarded the City status and that means they are developed enough to be awarded that title, but I am sure it won't be as hectic as any other City in the world. Why do I say so? It's a resort city after all.
As you can see, Miri City is a much slower-paced and peaceful City. If I am given a chance, I would love to spend the rest of my life there so that my descendants (whoa.. scary eh? ) would have a chance to experience the kind of lifestyle that worth mentioning to their children too.

Although Kenny Sia once said that, Miri is a party town, I would say; Yes, we have pretty chicks, but let's face it, they're everywhere.
I don't know why but, Miri City is getting all the attention for the wrong reasons. The one that have been making Miri city was the bully case involving several girl students in Miri. Well, these are among the reason why people are still looking down on Miri City. But, maybe it's time that people should know that there's still a lot of decent girls in Miri.

So, if you're a Mirian, and are currently stuck in another part of the world, I would love to hear from you why you miss Miri City too.

Cheers!
Chee Kui
