DeconneXion, Deconnected?

Submitted by popui on Fri, 2007-07-13 18:20. :: Eyes on Miri | Rants | Technology

Mirians are lucky to have free broadband WiFi connection provided by www.deconnexion.com.my. This is a government pilot project to encourage the use of internet.

It is a free access, sounds good!! HOWEVER, when you want to get serious into using the services, out of 10 times, you only get to use 1 or 2 times. Most of the time, the service is down. I have been patiently waiting for the improvement since the launching on 1 April 2007. But it seems like the connection is getting worse. I hardly able to use nowadays.

There are 3 access points at High Street; deConnecXion-1, 3 & 6. None of them functioning properly.

As for the Boulevard Commercial area; deConnecXion-13, worse still. It is not functioning at all. How long do we have to wait until it is 100% working properly? When the free period is over?

2005/2006: 4.2 (3.7 Malaysia as a whole)

* popui's Comment (dated 14 May 2006):
Price index for 2004/2005 is 2.3 which is lower than Malaysia total price index, while Sarawak price index is higher in 2005/2006. In other words, goods and products of Sarawak are more expensive in 2005/2006 as compare to Malaysia as a whole.
In general, Sarawakians believe that Miri is the most expensive town as compare to the rest of Sarawak. This could be attributed to the regular shopping by Bruneians comming to Miri.

Population of Malaysia:
2004: 25.58 Million
2005: 26.13 Million
2006: 26.64 Million (2nd Quarter)
