Nasi Lalapan comes in various forms, from Nasi Lalapan bawal, nasi lalapan empel (beef) to nasi lalapan lele (catfish), to nasi lalapan ayam. Food is then topped with white cabbage, raw long beans, cucumbers, lime, tofu,, tempeh (fermented soy) and boiled spinach with sambal in the middle. Sometimes it is also served with lime squeezed over the sambal to give it a hot/spicy dash.
