wow..look like for now (23 July 2007, 12.10pm) is the first to choose "Slightly disappointed. Doesn't live up to hype."

i'm a pure Mirian. Born in miri, finish my study in miri and now working in miri. i'm not completely disappointed but just felt that miri should had done better, so much better.

we have so much to offer. yet those advantages is only in the hand of those few ppl. miri, for me is not a city and are still not ready to be a city. mentally we are not prepared, economically are not ready and so much more that we are not ready. i think, only miri's infrastructure is good enuf to be call a city.

I lived in Miri (off Pujut 1) years ago.....13 to be exact. It was a wonderful place back then.....you'd just gotten the Holiday Inn & Rhiga Royal. I lived there for 2 years & really enjoyed my time there. The people were wonderful. I was searching to see if some of the "hot spots" of then are still around.....fond memories of "Benny's Lounge" & the "Boat Club". Hawaii Beach was also a favorite place to hang out. I missed it so much tonight that I had to go online searching for any old photos of the place I once called home. I've lived in many place and Miri is among the "tops" in my book! Thanks for having this website!

Your Miri site is beautifully illustrated. The only regret is there is no information for food outlets for dining. Surely this is one of the most important essentials for any would-be visitors!

Submitted by ian on Thu, 2007-08-23 14:38.

Hi lawlee, thanks for pointing out the lack of dining information. I've been wanting to do the segment however as even though I love food but I have trouble with knowing exactly what foods I'm eating, so this - and time - poses a problem.

Anyone reading this is encouraged to contribute and send in their own pictures and write-up / review on foods to be put up, credit will be given. We'll appreciated it. Please send it to admin(at)miriresortcity.com.

Dear Webmaster,
I am a mirian. I too have a contribution to make for our miri people. I have created a handy and helpful website (http://dohisway,com) which brings information quickly and conveniently to its users. Please check this out to see it is appropriate to be included in your Miri Links column. Many thanks.

Under your section "Miri your second Home" there is a paragraph which states "Although their number is small is Miri, respect for them is high. The Indians and the Sikhs have their own temple. Although it is not a public holiday, Deepavali is celebrated just like the other festive celebrations except it is in a smaller scale."

I would like to point out that the word "Indian" is a race. Just like the word "Chinese". Do not distinguish the Sikhs from Indians. As mentioned earlier "Indians" are a race. Sikhs are a religion, just like Christians, Hindus and Muslims. Indians are a a multi religious society and are composed of all religions. It might be good idea to amendment the Incorrect statement.

Thanks Kevin, I contemplated putting this up but because you haven't yet even decided on a Miri date it makes it almost irrelevant and looks as if its an afterthought.

Until a date and venue is proposed, your comment posted here anyway will have to make do as an announcement for the moment. You may contact us at admin[at]miriresortcity.com when the official date and venue is decided.

We appreciate your feedback for informing us about this, we hope to hear from you soon with updated info.

Good Food in Miri

i think there's something i would like to share about good food in Miri. I seldom take Laksa but after i've try in this shop, i started to love it! It really suit my taste(might not be yours, but it seems to be crowded for most of the time lol) It is located in Krokop which is nearby a Perodua Showroom next to the Krokop roundabout. The shop is facing to a large garage and at below of Sport T-shirt(if you know where it is). I'm in kl right now and unfortunately i can't show you the photos of it. i kind of forget about the road name and the shop name already so if someone has gone there please take a shot of the place and the nice laksa to share here ok?

instead of the tasty laksa, there's a penang fried kueh teow is one of my favorite as well. it is located at Pelita Commercial Centre in a shop named erm...i forgot. hehehe... well i must admit that i'm a very absend minded person but hey, who cares ok? lol it is opposite of the Pelita Coffee Shop ok.

Chicken Rice - Country Chicken Rice behind Mega hotel is great too! (opposite of TOTO)(don't forget to ask for its tasty soup!)

Finally, Kolok Mee! Guys! if you come to Sarawak and have never try our kolok Mee you are considering had never been truly visited Sarawak! i mean it. lol i love canton mee at the market place. it's an old stall with old people who still running it. They have a branch now at Pelita Commercial Centre (commonly known as 2020) which located below this Hotspot Bistro! they have a very nice western food as well in Hotspot! You should go and try it. it's nearby Cherrie Berrie and Balcony!

Hello, Duncan.

Thanks very much for the food review - you can go have a look at http://www.MakanManiacs.com, a blog entirely dedicated to reviewing foods from in and around Miri (sometimes out of Miri).

I'm afraid that I might not be the same 'Ian' that you speak of. I've made a comment at your blog.

Thanks for commenting.
