Construction began in mid-2019 and completed in late 2020, the new Fish Market is situated right by the Miri Waterfront, and just behind the Pullman Hotel and The Wharf apartment buildings. It was intended as a replacement for the old Fish Market located at what was the old River Road.
As the old fish market was next to the Miri River, which had been filled in as part of the land reclaimation project in the 2000s, boats cannot land and offload their catch right beside the fish market.
The new Fish Market features plenty of parking space and is located right by the Miri Waterfront.

The Hopoh Canteen is a decades-old food center, located at the Hopoh Association Building at Krokop at Jee Foh Road, Krokop.
And so things slowly improved. By 1921 or thereabouts, there were about 40 shophouses in Miri.
On August 1st, 1960, the Miri General Hospital, which had for long been operated by the oil company with financial assistance from the government, was handed over to the government; with it went the Miri Ferry that connects between the peninsular and town - and the hospital -, all the concession land on the Miri Peninsula south of the Miri Golf Course, and all the houses, roads and utility services within that area.
