Gilbert Estate is one of the older residential areas in Miri built in 1970, with its own public park and playground in the center, it is a residential area comprising of about 50 houses in a rough circle just off Merdu road. The housing are of smaller and denser variety.
Nowadays located and surrounded by commercial buildings, behind Bintang Commercial Center, right next to the Miri Courthouse, and in the vicinity of the Civic Center, this small residential area one of the few that is rapidly being surrounded by the upcoming developments all over Miri with its residents finding themselves right in the center of the Miri city's bustling commercial zone. Property owners have mostly rented out the properties here due to high value of immediate vicinity to town, but generally the area is pretty run down today.
There is a park / playground hidden from view within the estate, which could only be accessible via back doors of certain houses or narrow access paths. (See map)
