Currency used in Miri is in Ringgit (MYR). The Ringgit currency comes in MYR100, MYR50, MYR10, MYR5 and MYR1 denominations. MYR1 is equivalent to 100 cents (Sen) and coins come in denominations of 50, 20 10 and 5 cents (Sen).
All major banks are well represented throughout Miri, including several international banks. Some banks offer cash transfer services such as Western Union.
Most shopping complexes and malls have Automated Teller Machines to dispense cash.
Operating hours:
Banks open Mondays to Fridays from 9.30 am to 3.30pm. Money changes follow normal shopping hours; at street level open Monday - Saturday 9am - 6pm and those in shopping malls open daily 10am to 9pm.
