Built in 1991, Miri Civic Center functions as an exhibition foyer and amphitheater on the ground floor, holds the Miri Public Library on the second floor, and is a multi-purpose hall for various social functions such as wedding parties, concerts, large conferences etc.

River Road was the name of the road that stretches from the Tua Pek Kong Temple, past the fish market, old bus station (now a roundabout), the old Miri Port Authority Building (now Arcadia Square), ending at the old shop houses of what is now known as the Harbour View Inn building.

The old Miri General Hospital, which was located on the peninsular at the Miri river mouth had long been operated by oil company Shell, with financial assistant from the government.
